After
watching summer wars again, because it is such a good movie, I wondered if
there were other movies that included the hanafuda game. I went looking and I was
surprised to find so many. For the Hanfuda in general I found Korean drama called
Tazza and a movie called Tazza: The High Rollers. It revolves around these
gamblers playing a the Korean version of Hanafuda which is Hwatu(war of flowers).
So I thought that was cool then I found some others in cartoons.

When I looked for films related to koi koi hanafuda I was
surprised that in quite a few animes there are characters named after the yaku/combination
inoshikacho(boar,deer, butterfly). For example, InoShikaCho is a creature in
the anime Dragonball. In the anime Kamichou!, Ino, Shika, and Chou are the
three tiny spirits that the God Association sends to Yurie as assistants. In
the anime Ranma 1/2, Ino, Shika, and Cho are grandmasters from the martial
arts tea school. The anime Naruto has a three-man team consisting of the
members Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Choji Akimichi, as well as the team
formed by their respective fathers (and the rest of their families), Inoichi
Yamanka, Shikaku Nara, and Chouza Akimichi. The combination is referred to as
the InoShikaCho formation.
